LASIK (laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis) is an outpatient refractive surgery procedure used to treat nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. A laser is used to reshape the cornea - the clear, round dome at the front of the eye - to improve the way the eye focuses light rays onto the retina at the back of the eye. With LASIK, an ophthalmologist (Eye M.D.) creates a thin flap in the cornea using either a blade or a laser. The surgeon folds back the flap and precisely removes a very specific amount of corneal tissue under the flap using an excimer laser. The flap is then laid back into its original position where it heals in place.

Ready to See Life Without Glasses or Contacts?
Thank you so much for improving my life! Not only can I see well, but my spirits have lifted higher than they have been for a long long time. Yesterday, feeling like my eyes have surely healed I went to Macy's and had a full makeup facial done and bought the products used. Yippee! After getting my facial done yesterday, I went to my beautician for my hair to be glorified, then went shopping in a very nice dress shop and found a beautiful new dress. The day culminated with dinner out to a new to me Indian restaurant that may have provided me the best Indian food I have ever eaten. (Across the street and behind a noodle restaurant from Valley River). Thank you so much!

Bala,
This morning I can see full range of vision clearly, read without glasses, distance clearly. No pain or discomfort. Have a great trip. Thank you so much. Kathy and I are so appreciative of your amazing gift to us. Thank you.

My follow-up appointment with Dr, Ambati the morning after my surgery was really exciting for me because after the cataract surgery my vision had gone from 20:400 to 20:30, I was stunned and as I am filling this out I'm not wearing any glasses. Yea! He carefully explained the importance of using the eye drops and following the instructions on the aftercare sheet.

I want you to know you have changed my life for the better. It was like magic having those operations. I was so miserable with my contacts before. Anyway, all the best. I don't know if you are coming back. I hope you are. I am so lucky you were here when I needed you. All the best to you and your family. God bless you.
